Summer break has ended here in the Metel household and I sent my two little ones off to school this week! Yes, BOTH of them! Brody started 2nd grade on Monday, and my baby Skylar started preschool on Tuesday! There were lots of tears, all from ME! I am so proud of my kids on how well they did this week. I am still adjusting to the changes of being alone at home, preparing two school lunches, driving to two different schools, and so forth. But overall, God has answered my prayers and both my kids have been all smiles!
Here are some more photos of Brody's first day of school...
Brody is excited to have many of his friends in his second grade class, including his best friend! We couldn't believe that we have been blessed to have his best buddy in his class for three years in a row now! We are excited to see everything that Brody will be learning this year!
And my little girl Skylar is not so little any more. I could not control my tears on her first day of school, and I balled like a baby! Thankfully, I love her preschool and that was the only thing that kept me going. Plus the fact that Skylar was super excited and happy to go to school. Once we got to her classroom, she walked right in and smiled ear to ear when her teachers told her to pick a magnet puzzle to play with. Here are some more photos of Skylar's first day of school....
One thing I realize about being a mom is how quickly time flies. When I find myself trying to do too many things at once, or trying to cook a perfect dinner, or cleaning the house, I stop myself and just try to have fun with the kids. I apologize for my lack of blog posts this summer, but we did so many fun things this summer as a family (hope to share some more photos soon)! And I know this past year there were times when my house was messy, but I let it go so I could play games with Skylar (even if it was the same game over and over!), or play Beyblades with Brody, or just sit down and watch a movie with the kids. I want to try to do those things more often instead of sweating the small things!
Here are some photos of past first day of school pictures, look how much the kids have changed!
