Magic Cookie Bars

When I first had these heavenly treats, I needed the recipe desperately!  And now it is one of the treats that I enjoy making every time I host a party.  On Saturday, my family and I threw my sister a surprise 40th birthday party and of course I had to make these treats.  {See party pictures HERE}.  Below is the recipe for these magical treats!  Photo and recipe courtesy of Eagle Brand.  Enjoy!

Ingredients:
  •  Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 2 cups (12 oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • HEAT oven to 350°F. Spray 13 x 9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.
  • COMBINE graham cracker crumbs and butter in small bowl. Press into bottom of prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer evenly with chocolate chips, coconut and nuts. Press down firmly with fork.
  • BAKE 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Loosen from sides of pan while still warm; cool on wire rack. Cut into bars or diamonds.
  • For perfectly cut cookie bars, line entire pan with foil, extending foil over edge of pan. Coat lightly with no-stick cooking spray. After bars have baked and cooled, lift up with edges of foil to remove from pan. Cut into individual bars.

New Beginning

After many months of being a loyal blog reader to some of my favorite blogs, I am finally starting my own!  Thanks to a little push from my husband, Sweet Metel Moments is born!  I thought it would be a great idea for my first post to be about the celebration of a new life.  Last month I had the honor of throwing a baby shower for my wonderful brother, Ish, and my beautiful sister-in-law, Beatriz.  With the help from my lovely sister, mom, and hubby, I think everything went perfectly!  Here are some pictures.

I want to give credit to my favorite blogs out there who helped inspire me in creating this baby shower.

The overall theme of "Sweet Dreams" came from a bedtime-themed birthday party featured on Hostess with the Mostess.  I especially loved her dessert labels and was thrilled when I found the same moon and star paper punch on clearance at Michaels, so of course I had to use it for my labels!  There are so many pretty parties to look at on that site and I just drool at the creativity!

I got the tutorial on how to make the Oreo Cookie Pop Favors and Oreo Cookie Pop Holder from the How Does She gals, who always have such great ideas and tutorials!

And my party hero and idol, Kim from TomKat Studio, inspired me on the overall look and on the cupcake toppers and various paper decor throughout the party.  She is amazing and in reading her blogs she has inspired me to start my own blog and see what I can do with some of my favorite hobbies.
